What’s On

Our main act of worship is the Sunday Morning Mass, which is celebrated at 11am and lasts for approximately one hour. At Mass we hear God’s word through the Bible, strengthened as we receive Jesus himself in his body and blood at Holy Communion, sing God’s praise and offer to him our prayers for the Church and the world.

Mass is followed by tea and coffee and the opportunity to stop and chat with other members of the church family. There is also a play area for those with young children.

St John’s Bible Study group meets fortnightly to deepen our understanding of the scriptures, to discuss their meaning and impact on our lives, and to seek to know Jesus better. As we learn from God through his word and from one another, we have the opportunity to ask questions and grow in our faith.

Bible Study takes place every fortnight in a relaxed environment over tea and coffee at the Vicarage. If you would like to join us do get in touch.

At 4pm on the last Sunday of each month St John’s celebrates a Family Service in the Church Hall, with the focus being on children exploring the Christian faith with their families in an informal environment where they can make as much noise as they like!

The service is interactive, with craft activities, fun songs and good food, all set in the context of our Christian theme for the month.

At various times throughout the year there is the opportunity to take part in one of our courses to find out more about Jesus Christ, his Church and the Christian faith. Exploring Christianity is a great way to learn about the basics of our faith, to ask the big questions of life, and to hear the profound, life-changing answers the Good News Jesus gives us. Every Tuesday from 9.30 to 11am we hold our Tots & Toddlers group in the Hall directly across the road from church.

Toys and games are provided for the little ones as well as a simple breakfast of toast, yoghurt and juice, as well as tea and coffee for adults. There is a small charge for each family, and everyone is very welcome. £2 per family.

On the third Wednesday of the month there is an afternoon of Tea & Bingo in the Church Hall from 2pm to 4pm.

Everyone in the local community is warmly invited to come along and enjoy an afternoon tea of cakes and sandwiches, play bingo, take part in our monthly raffle and meet new friends as we simply chat and enjoy one another’s company. £5 per session.
